Comic Palooza from Jen's POV

I only had one day at Comicpalooza and my goal was to make the most of the day.

First before I get into my story let me give you a fun fact. I drove to Houston late Friday night, upon my arrival I learned that JMM won a very very nifty autograph from partaking in the Marvel marathon. Talk about a pretty stellar surprise.

An authentic Scarlet as  the Black Widow autograph!

One Avenger down.

After this weekend I would be the proud owner of two Avenger's signed posters. Not bad huh?

First things I learned from Comicpalooza.

Quidditch is a college sport.... not even kidding. Please google. I felt like my nerd card should have been ripped away from me, Harry Potter was one of my first fandoms how I did not know this...

Exhibitor badges are AWESOME!

Jeremy Renner has legitimately beautiful eyes.

John Schneider is pretty damn tall.

There is a distinct generational gap at con... one I never really noticed until I took a 13 year old to con and sent my mother a text about John Schneider.

My priority at this con was to meet Renner, I have a slight nerdy crush over the man so I was pretty excited... and nervous about meeting him.

So I figured bringing a fearless 13 year old would keep me in check for when I met him and I would totally keep it together to save face in front of her...

Yeah that was poorly planned. . .

We grabbed our tickets so we could get in line for Jeremy Renner. (side note I love when they hand out tickets for autographs, it is a way to prove I was there, especially since I was not paying $160 for the photo op)

IMG_3828

I was pretty damn excited, I know it is silly to get excited about celebs but I am a nerd, I can't help it.

We lined up, but the signing was postponed until 1:15 so I took Sara around to the different artists to look at their artwork and we walked around to see what other celebs were there. I didn't really know because my focus was all about Renner.

So after some time it was time to get back in line and wait. I was pretty nervous. Sure I have met a lot of celebs, but not one that I think is well ummm hot... so I was nervous but I was trying to play it cool in front of Sara.

Then Renner walks by... and oh my goodness Sara is suddenly star struck. Very very star struck.

Yep the fearless girl I brought to keep me together is star struck.

She starts saying OMG OMG OMG over and over... to the point the lady in front of me gets nervous and the group behind me gets nervous... then the next thing I know we are all one big nervous ball of energy.

Yeah, cause that is what I needed, nervous energy before I meet Renner.

flipping fantastic.

Well finally it is time to go up and meet the guy, I figured I would let Sara go first.

She was shaking and so nervous so before she gets up there... so quickly I remind her...

"He poops like you" except I said the S word instead of poop... at this point I would say and do anything to calm her down. Granted I wasn't nervous anymore so there is that but she had enough nervous energy for both of us and my focus was calming her down.

She laughs and walks over to him. She says hi, he signs the poster and she does a total about face and runs off... and leaves me there to meet the man alone.

I couldn't help it I just busted out laughing, I am laughing so hard Jeremy starts laughing (pretty sure he thought I was a lunatic) I shake my head and apologize then explain she was so nervous that she had me all worked off and then left me to fend for myself.

He started laughing (this is when I noticed his eyes were like whoa), signed my poster and called me darling.

I thanked him and I am pretty sure I sighed. Actually I know I sighed, I was totally swooning...

I am also 99.99% positive he called all the ladies darling, but I am going to pretend it was just me.

IMG_3840

So two Avengers down, like Ultron I am coming for the rest ;) or maybe it's Thanos now... hmmm

Either way I still have avengers to meet... like Evans.  I think I can meet him now, I held myself together for Renner. :)

So after the excitement of meeting Renner was over it was time to meet a few more celebs, before it was time to head out.

Sadly I didn't make any panels :(

I didn't realize that Rick Howland & Emmanuelle Vaugier were both there and I was pretty disappointed I couldn't find a Lost Girl poster to get them to sign, so I just used their head shots. It was so fun talking the show with them, and just boosted my excitement for Dallas Con the following weekend.

IMG_3852

Then I got to meet Richard Harmon who I had no clue who he was but Sara did... he was interesting & a TON of fun to meet, plus he gives one heck of a hug. I have watched The 100, I just didn't realize that was him. That is why I love con, well one of the reasons.

IMG_3844

Then I met John Schneider.

IMG_3861

Funny story, I did not realize he was Bo in Dukes of Hazzard... when I sent my mom a text all excited I met Jonathan Kent from Smallville, she was like he was famous for playing Bo first....

So there you have it people con brings people of multiple generations together... another reason to love con.

I had such a great Saturday at con, I really wish I could have spent more time there, but this weekend was just too busy!

How was your comicpalooza experience?

Batman V Superman - Ashley's Wild Obsession with BATMAN!

I just watched the Batman V Superman trailer and Oh My God!! Now I am excited!!!

Some of you may remember from summer 2013 my Early Review Of Superman blog post that got my poor little ole blog bashed on some of the 'Nerd' sites that my husband and dear friends like to visit.

If you don't remember I'll do a little re-cap ... I gave it a 3.5 star review because I was just not impressed at all and I felt like some of the plot copied Independence Day with Will Smith and Bill Pullman. (Side note - so glad ID4 is coming out with a sequel! Even if the love of my life Will Smith isn't going to be in it *insert very dramatic tears* )

Anyway ... I've digressed and then did like a 30 min search on Will Smith .. but back to reality!

BATMAN v SUPERMAN!

Oh My Holy Hotness Batman!!!!

While I have always enjoyed Ben Affleck. I mean come on ... he's pretty yummy to look at. Especially when he has that sexy man beard going on ... I never pictured him as Batman.

And now that I've seen him .... Oh yeah .... Hugh Jackman as Wolverine watch out!!! You MAY just have been bumped as my sexiest super hero yet!

We will have to wait and see how he looks in the suit on the big screen.

Now what I did gather from the two minute trailer is some yummy drama that I can't wait to see unfold.

Honestly, I hope Batman kicks Superman's ass!

And kicks it way back to Krypton!

I loved Superman as a kid but and by loved I mean I really enjoyed the movies. But Batman (And the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Wolverine) have always been the ones my heart holds dear.

And now its time for Batman to get his dirty sexy fighting skills on.

I am so mad I have to wait until 2016 to see this movie! I NEEEEEED me some Batman!

I LOVED Christian Bale as Batman, his voice, oh it wooed me. So I expect Ben Affleck's to woo me as well. He better melt my insides and get me all worked up because that black suit NEEDS to get that action on!

As I have said before I haven't read the comics but the hubby tells me that Batman DOES win in them. THANK GOD!

I can't handle Batman losing on the big screen. Not sure what I would do if that happened. Cry maybe?

Oh My God - I just had a thought! What if BEN AFFLECK! Comes to ComicPalooza one year because NOW he is BACK in the super hero ring!!!! (If you remember he did play the blind super hero DareDevil once upon a time...) Oh man that would be so exciting being able to go MEET BATMAN!

Alright so to wrap up this craziness ... long story short ... I NEED this movie to come out ASAP! I can't wait to see it. And Batman BETTER beat the tar out of that flying alien!

This was a major dose of Ashley Randomness tonight. You can blame it on the lack of sleep I've had all week. Since last Sunday I've only had 15 hours of sleep ... they say at some point you become delusional ... let's just blame it on that okay?

Have a great night peeps and remember #BATMANBEATSSUPERMAN!

Is Jen cheating on the Cap?

Ashley and I play our roles at Twisted Admiration... she is the classy conservative one and well I am the loud mouthed friend that objectifies men.

Just kidding, well sorta  I mean she is not THAT conservative...

It is no secret that I have a bit of obsession crush on Chris Evans, the man oozes sex appeal and every time he is on screen I sigh....  uncontrollably.  That man is a gift from the gods, seriously....

Funny fact, I just learned that mother was born approx 36 minutes (Texans judge distance in minutes not miles) from Sudbury, the home town of this beautiful man,

It is a sign we are meant to be, too bad I would likely get hit with a restraining order.

this article is not about Chris, I may have started another nerdy crush... (oh the drama) on...

drum roll please....

Jeremy Renner

Whaaaaaaaaaaaa?????

I have come to accept the fact that Jeremy Renner is one of those guys that sneaks up on you and before you know it, you are obsessing I mean crushing... actually maybe I mean obsessiving,

Then you are like yeah he is cute...

Then you are like BAM I would totally have that man's child...

I will leave it to you, to decide what stage of Jeremy Renner fandom I am in.

So why the sudden talk about Jeremy Renner????

Guess who Ashley and I get to meet in May....

Ding Ding Ding.  Yep you guessed it Jeremy Renner.

and yes, you should totally be jealous, or come with us and hang with us... we don't bite... unless you are Chris Evans... then well come at your own risk.

Like I said Ashley is the classy one... whereas I am like "Yo Ash, did you see that emoticon where he pushed that girl against the wall that was pretty damn sexy."

Yeah ai know.   What can I say she has class.

Jen met the Governor... Jealous?

This post was originally posted at TheCubicleEscapee.com

This past Sunday my mom treated me to Walker Stalker con... and let me just say it was a blast!!!

Comic cons have become such a fad that often when I go to con I am having to shuffle through crowds, getting yelled at by security for god knows what, waiting in two hour lines, honestly my desire to go to comic con is further proof I am a lunatic because who the world wants to wait in a line to meet a person??? I do.  Obviously.

IMG_2808

So imagine my immediate delight when I realized that the typical con experience would not occur at Walker Stalker con.  It was calm, organized and a total blast.  I was not getting yelled at by security for taking photos, I was able to walk around freely and I was able to enjoy con with my mom with no drama.

I will go back next year.

As the title of this convention would indicate it is a Walking Dead themed con.  I am very new to the Walking Dead bandwagon, but I have quickly become a fan! Don't spoil anything I am just now about to start season 4!!!

Still I was excited about meeting two people.  Emma Bell because I am HUGE Dallas fan #BringDallasBACK and the governor.  Mom and I walked araound and came up to Emma Bell, no one was at her table so I quickly went up and struck up a conversation.

She is AWESOME.  Seriously, not only is she beautiful she was amazing.  She complimented my eye shadow, which I admit threw me for a  minute, I have never been complimented by a celebrity, please give me a minute while I stoke my ego. . .

Ok I am done, but I am pretty sure I will be talking about the time Emma Bell said she liked my eye shadow for the foreseeable future...

I learned she is about to have few indie films out (count me in!) and that she is upset about Dallas too!!! Seriously way to leave us hanging TNT!!!!! She has am immediate fan because she was beyond nice and down to earth which I always love seeing in a celeb.

IMG_2796

Seriously!!! how cute is she?

Afterwards mom and I went and grabbed some pop corn, we sat in the Breaking Bad panel for a bit and we have decided it is time to start watching Breaking Bad (I know, bad nerd) but there is just way too much good TV and just not enough time to watch it all!

Mom and I had already gotten our tickets to meet the governor, (mom was seriously excited!!! I love when she gets excited about meeting a celeb, last time I saw her that excited was when we met Danny Glover) and got in line.  We waited maybe 20 minutes and it was finally our turn.

I just got a picture, I didn't have anything to get signed.  Mom bought an awesome drawing of "The governor" and got that signed.   I took my picture, he was awesome.  He was tall!! I had my 5 inch boots on (I was trying to look like some awesome zombie slayer... cause you know they totally wear boots!) and he was still taller than me.

It was my first big nerd moment of the year, and the perfect way for me to kick my con season off!

IMG_2815

Who are you hoping to meet in 2015?  Have you had your first nerd moment of the year?

Interview with NYTIMES Best Selling Author, Jacquelyn Frank

Some of you who know me know I LOVE Jacquelyn Frank. I was lucky enough to get to read this novel, CURSED BY ICE through Net Galley and with a little bit of luck I was able to snag an interview. I hope you enjoy this question and answer. She's an amazing author and I just hope one day I can be as well known as her.

-- Ashley

INTERVIEW

1)      What made you start this new Immortal Brothers series and how many books do you think you will have in it?

JF: I was in the mood for something different. I wanted to change it up a little from the NIGHTWALKERS series, and this is what came to me. There’s going be 4 books in the series.

2)      Is there any chance we will see more of the Gods playing a bigger factor in all of these worlds? Not just the small roles we have seen thus far.

JF: The Gods generally play the same role as in the first book, but they figure more into the story in the last book.

3)      How did you come up with the different races that you portrayed inside the book? Was it easy or hard? Did you have a clear image of what you wanted or did it evolve as you wrote the stories out?

JF: It was pretty easy for me. It generally evolved as I wrote the story. I have no plans, it just generates itself in my mind as I write.

4)      Are you a plotter or pantser?

JF: I’m a pantser! I write things down as I go only for the sake of keeping track of what I’ve already written. My memory ain’t what it used to be!

5)      What inspired you to start this new series?
(same question as #1)

6)      The NIGHTWALKER series is amazing, I truly love it. I enjoyed the last two books that came out, FORGED and FORSAKEN, how did you come up with that in depth series?

JF: It’s the same as I said before—it just generates as I write. I don’t plan things out, I just regurgitate words!

7)      Was there ever a time when you didn’t think you wanted to continue in the fantasy/paranormal genre?

JF: No- paranormal and fantasy is my niche.

8)      Did you always want to be a writer? Was there someone who inspired you to pick up a pen and start creating worlds?

JF: I always wanted to be a writer—I started when I was 13 years old. The only people who inspired me were the authors I read every day.

9)      Will there be another NIGHTWALKER book?

JF: There’ll be one more, the last book. It’s called FORGIVEN.

10)   Is there anything you have in the way of advice for aspiring and up and coming authors?

JF: Just don’t give up! Keep trying. Take chances. If I had done those things, I would have been published a lot sooner than I was.

11)   What’s your favorite part of living in North Carolina?

JF: Beautiful mountains, beautiful weather…what’s not to love?

12)   I heard a rumor you have some ‘sexier’ writings out there, can you tell me about them?

JF: You might want to check out the books I write as “Jax.”

13)   I like to do a lightning round, so these are quick questions
a.       Light or Dark Dark
b.      Coke or Pepsi Pepsi
c.       Football or Baseball Baseball
d.      Pool or Beach Beach
e.      Winter or Summer Winter
f.        Superman or Batman Batman
g.       Books or Ebooks Ebooks
h.      Movies or Television Movies
i.        Camping or Resort Resort
Thank you so much for this interview. I can’t wait for your next novel!
You’re welcome! Anytime!

In case you need reasons to love Chris Evans...

Those of you that have been with Ash and me for awhile know that I have a bit of nerdy crush on Chris Evans.   A year ago I even wrote a post on this website as well as TheCubicleEscapee.com  about the development of this crush. These posts stated that this nerdy crush stemmed from his beautiful body that teased me relentlessly while watching "What's Your Number".  Seriously that much sexiness must be illegal somewhere right?

So I believe the assumption could be made that my nerdy crush stemmed from that hot body and that ridiculous jaw line that you just want to well... you know.   I swear my mother raised a lady but that man makes me want to be no lady.

I must confess further that this little nerdy crush has grown at my job to where my co-workers send me daily images of Chris along with some catchy R rated blurb.

Today was a picture of him shirtless holding a towel while eating an apple (again a scene from What's Your Number) and the caption "Don't you just want to lick those abs?"

I won't bore you with the details of how that conversation  went as it is not very ladylike but it made me realize that my like for this man has grown, because I really believe he is a genuine great guy and not just acting like one ahem Steve Rogers I am looking at you.  I also think that Hollywood really needs men like Mr. Evans, because let's face it, there is a lot of garbage in Hollywood that sadly people idolize.

The media has a charming way of seeing an image and running with the story, or even making things up for a story... so I take any stories I read about a celeb with a grain of salt.  I am not a celeb by any stretch of the imagination and I have had rumors about me, so I typically will always give celebs the benefit of the doubt.

I felt the need to say that disclaimer because the media is the reason I like him that much more, but let's be honest the media reported the story because of Mr. Evan's actions.  His actions were good ones... my blabbering will make sense eventually... Hopefully.

So without further ado...  if you are looking for a reason to like Chris Evans read on...

1.  He escorted Betty White on stage

This was a moment that stole a lot of hearts and to be honest this would not be the last thing this man would do that would make a million woman sigh (including myself)

Ladies let's face the fact that if you are a 30 somethings we live in a day where we are lucky if a man holds the door for us, our father's day of chivalry is dead....  with the exception of Chris Evans.  He jumped up and helped her get on stage.  He is 33 and a true gentleman.  I really believe he did this because it was the right thing to do, not because  he wanted to "gain anything from it" Cue sigh
now oh to be Betty White.

2. His quotes are HILARIOUS and deep

Let;s talk hypothetically here.  Say you have a job that sucks, and you wanted to escape for a brief moment so hypothetically you type "Chris Evans" into google.  What would you find?  Well hypothetical speaking you would find a lot of articles and images and those articles often have quotes.

So hypothetically, here are a few quotes you might find that Chris said...

I always say that the times in my life when I've been happiest are the times when I've seen, like, a sunset.
I like girls who are self-deprecating. I like girls who make fun of themselves. If you can't poke fun at yourself, what are you? I just want someone with a good soul. That's about it. The rest I'm really flexible on

I like wet hair and sweatpants. I like sneakers and ponytails.

And just so we are clear I am NO longer talking hypothetically... I totally have a pony tail right now & I totally dig wearing sweat pants...and Mr. Evans I love sunsets too... Just saying if you ever happen to read this... You can totally email me.  ;)

3.  He takes his BEST friend to the Oscars, and then gets friend zoned by her then the both laugh it off.

I was on twitter when people started to tweet that Chris had arrived at the Oscars with a "mystery girl"  and it started escalating quickly.  Then it was time for his interview and probably one of the most hilarious moments happened.... Robin Robert's assumes she is his girlfriend... and then according to the media he immediately friend zones her...

But everyone, watch the video, she speaks first.   Who friend zoned who first is not really the point here, the point is he TOOK HIS BEST FRIEND to the Oscars.

I am totally feeling ripped off that I don't have any famous best friends.  Seriously but if you are needing a reason clearly he values friendship, and that is saying a lot.

Now I could write on and on as to why you should like Chris Evans but I am going to share one last moment with you that made me smile, and realize that yeah, this guy is the real deal.

4.

This photo needs no explanation but I will give a quick one anyway, look at that little girls face and look at his.  No captain is needed and no explanation or confirmation should be needed as to why you should love Chris Evans.

All I have to say who ever ends up with this man better be worth it, cause he is one hell of a catch.

We are back

Soooooooooooooooooo Admirer's

Ashley and I have been away which believe me has made us very sad too, but we are back and we are back with a a lot of stalking twisted admiration stories. We will not let you down this year and with con season fast approaching I am sure we will have plenty of stories coming soon!

I know personally in one week I will be at the Walker Stalker Con and I personally can't wait to meet Emma Bell, now she didn't last very long on the Walking Dead but she sure was a B in charge on Dallas. (holy hell cliffhanger, that will NEVER be resolved) anyway I am super stoked to meet her and I can't wait to see who else I will be able to stalk.

But come on, I am at con can we really call it stalking?  Stay tuned peeps because I promise I will have the 4-1-1 for you, You want me to ask Emma Bell a question? Shoot them my way because believe me I am going to see if she happens to know if Christian survived or not... this is some serious need to know.  How can you find out JR has another child and blow up a Ewing and not finish it??? TOTAL BS.   #RENEWDallas please take a moment and tweet this.

Done?  ok.

Anyway before I have a total fangirl melt down let's move on to the next con currently on my schedule.

Dallas Comic Con.

You didn't think I would miss it this year did you?

This is not until May 29th and I am planning on attending all three days to get all the stalker gossip for you.  I am a firm believer in helping the nerds out!

The guest list is already looking pretty amazing and I know I have Stan Lee, Laura Vandervoort (met her once but I just have to know if Greyston Holt is that beautiful in person) and I am also looking forward to  meeting Carrie Fisher.  In fact Carrie might make me a little star struck.  We will see.

So three stars already on my list and this is just the first round of announcements!!!  Dallas con is obviously going to be a pretty awesome this year and I can't wait to get my picture taken with Adam West in my Poison Ivy costume, don't worry nerds I will totally share my cosplay with you!

What cons are on your schedule this year??? Who are you hoping to meet in 2015?

Personally I am still holding out for my Chris's... Evans and Hemsworth... a nerd can hope right?

Well ladies... and gents,  Feel free to comment below & share who you want to meet in 2015... We love hearing from fellow stalkers

XOXO
Jen
